I wanted to tell you all about the top 13 summer camps that I recommend attending this year. These camps are taught by the swimmers who not only reached a very high level of the sport, but who I also trust as excellent teachers and role models.
Attending multiple camps (even with the same curriculum) can be incredibly valuable. I learn new drills and ways of describing technique every time I work alongside a different clinician. Hearing the same skills described differently will make new things 'click' into place each time you attend a camp.
These camps are listed in chronological order:
1. Waterford, MI
June 8 & 9, September 7 & 8, and September 15
This swim camp consists of two two-day swim camps followed by an elite video filming and analysis session. The curriculum will be:
2. Clermont, FL
Over 5 Days participants will work to improve in all areas of racing fast. This camp is led by Olympic gold medalist and close friend Nick Thoman along with National Champion Emma Reaney! Sessions are limited to 36 swimmers. This camp is just 30 minutes away from Disney World!
3. Kingsport, TN
This is another 5-day swim camp. Each day of this swim camp is focused on the details of fast swimming. Leading each session will be National Champion and incredible coach Austin Surhoff. Austin always gets fantastic reviews from his camps. His teaching style is very effective
4. Schaumburg, IL
Once of my favorite clinicians to work with is Scott Weltz. Now a father of 2 girls, Scott has an incredible eye for technique and fun approach to teaching technique. This is another 5-day camp limited to 35 swimmers in each session.
5. Fairbanks, AK
This is another 5-day camp, but this time IT'S IN ALASKA!!! The older sessions are SOLD OUT, but there is still space available in the younger session. Leading this camp is Olympic medalist Kim Vandenberg along with Liam McCloskey and Tommy Brewer!
6. Voorhees, NJ
I did a camp in Voorhees in December and I absolutely love this facility! This camp is limited to 36 participants and is also led by Olympic medalist Kim Vandenberg. Kim is a very real, honest, and relatable clinician. Swimmers at her camps have an amazing experience.
7. Arlington, VA
June 24-28, July 9-11, July 16-18, July 23-25, July 30-August 1, August 13-15
This camp is probably the one I'm most excited about. This is the "Mother of all Swim Camps". It will consist of SIX CAMPS and TWENTY SESSIONS. The series begins with a five-day “Technique Academy” followed by five, Three-Day Comprehensive Racing Camps – each focusing on a specific stroke. Each swim camp in the series is limited to only 36 participants and will be led by Olympic Medalists.
8. Houston, TX
June 29 & 30, September 7 & 8, November 30 & December 1
This is a series of three swim camps designed to cover all 4 strokes as well as starts and turns. The series will consist of:
9. Torrance, CA
I might actually sign up for this swim camp. I know for a fact that I had photos of the three clinicians leading these camps on my wall when I was younger. I can't imagine having the opportunity to learn from Brett Hawke, Gary Hall Jr., and Michael Klim ALL AT THE SAME TIME! This swim camp is insane. I can't even. Check it out:
10. Long Island, NY
Leading this Academy is Olympic gold medalist Tyler Clary. I love Tyler's message of "Why Not Me". Everybody who attends his camps leaves with more confidence as well as the knowledge of technique for faster racing. This is another 5-day camp limited to 36 swimmers in each session.
11. San Bruno, CA
July 31-August 4
I'm especially excited about this camp! The curriculum for this Academy will mirror the event schedule at USA Swimming’s Phillips 66 National Championships in Palo Alto, CA.
At checkout you can also add a BONUS ticket which includes a ticket to watch Finals at USA Swimming’s Phillips 66 National Championships the evening of the camp with your Elite Clinicians. You will also receive a Fitter and Faster limited addition t-shirt!
This is an “Elite” Academy which means that each session is limited to no more than 36 participants.
The Academy will be led by Elite Clinician Nick Thoman! Nick is one of Fitter and Faster’s most experienced clinicians and will bring unparalleled expertise and wisdom to your swimmer. He is an Olympic gold medalist and World Champion… and a very experienced clinician who delivers results.

12. Indianapolis, IN
August 3 & 4, August 17 & 18, August 24 & 25, September 7 & 8, and September 14
This camp has a basic concept. Work on one stroke per weekend for 4 weekends, then have your strokes filmed and analyzed. This camp has it all and each session is led by Olympians. There are a total of 8 swim camp sessions and a video session. I absolutely LOVE this camp format!
13. Minneapolis, MN
Last, but certainly not least, is our Minneapolis Academy. Five days of technique work with Kim Vandenberg! With only 36 participants in each session, I predict this camp will fill up by July 1st.
